Well put, John. It sounds like we need an entirely new Green party.

For the Green Party to take politics seriously, it has to seriously examine its structure, its actual political philosophy, and how it behaves. It can't just be a case of "full ahead and damn the torpedos," Mark. That's what it's doing right now. Unfortunately, I doubt that the Green Party has the capacity to question itself at this time. I'm not too optimistic about its chances of surviving.

the members total was 8000 when I got e may to say she would re-legalize cannabis ...oct 11 2007

we dropped immediately as all those who ridiculed me and who had fought me ...I guess quit...we then shot up to 12,000 paid members in under two months
glitches and sabotage abounded
lots of people were yes.. following

I was fatally stabbed and left for dead sept 4 2008

the numbers have been steadily bleeding since

they must think people are stupid.... can not read and don't talk

LOL

I do see a different scenario....soon coming though!!

we are not dead yet

but then who am I ?

happy new year folks

The Green Party has peaked - for the moment - as a political party.

We need new leadership, that understands politics as opposed to activism.

We need new staff, that can balance the books and fundraise more effectively.

We need a new platform, which presents a set of intelligent new policies, which seem sensible to average Canadians.

We need to turn the party upside down, so that it supports local EDAs, instead of the national HQ.

Your number for GPC membership is much higher than today's actual numbers. Not sure if we ever were that high in membership.

As to your post... if the Green Party wants to have a serious future, it has to take politics seriously. Not just the leadership team but every member. Enough with the protest movements. Enough with month long online debates about policy. Enough with the slackivism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slacktivism). We need to start doing basic politics and we need to start now.
